Abstract
Surface waters are waters well loaded with organic matter and found that humic substances have a major proportion of these substances from accumulating and natural chemical reaction by-products resulting from the decomposition of organic matter. To have a good quality of water required to repent though the standard for drinking water and protect public health, it is necessary to remove as much humic substances.
There are various techniques for reducing and eliminating humic substances, among them we find the adsorption processes that are most used to remove dissolved organic compounds, colloidal or semi.
Several adsorbents are implemented, among them, there is the activated carbon powder or grain, clays and oxides.
The aim of our study was to evaluate the adsorptivity of activated carbon powder and grain and a gross Algerian bentonite deposits comes Mostaganem and Maghnia vis-à-vis organic matter and more specifically substances a humic surface water dam Kherrata the region of Bejaia.
The tests are performed in batch, to understand the mechanisms of adsorption reaction different reaction parameters were monitored as the reaction time, the mass of adsorbent introduced and the initial content of humic substances.
The results we obtained show that the removal efficiency of humic substances are important for both the activated carbon for bentonite. The operating results by the laws of Freundlich and Langmuir have also confirmed these results.
