DEVELOPMENTS AND PROSPECTS IN VALORISING THE HYDROGRAPHIC POTENTIAL OF THE ŢIBLEŞ MOUNTAINS

Hognogi Gheorghe Gavrilă, Nicula Gabriel Cătălin, Man Ovidiu, University Babeş-Bolyai, Cluj-Napoca, Romania

Abstract

Mountain areas, through coordinates and morphometric features, impress significant changes to the meteo-climatic parameters in terms of increasing their values. Thus, the river network in the mountain area, as a response to the pluvial input, records a high density, rich runoff and qualitative characteristics superior to the river network in the lower relief units. The Ţibleş Mountains do not break this law, having a dense river network, with significant river flows and undeniable drinking qualities (in this respect, the petrographic structure also plays a very important role). The valorisation of this potential began with the emergence of the first human communities at the periphery of the analyzed area. At first slight and fully compliant with the laws of nature, today still inefficient, but accompanied by pollution, this valorisation of the river water potential requires a radical methodological change in order to achieve a higher efficiency, with minimal negative consequences. The lower the degree of anthropisation, the more feasible this desideratum is, the area being suitable for hydrotechnical construction works to support some water and wastewater utility needs and some clean economic activities.

Keywords: Ţibleş Mountains, hydrographic potential, hydrotechnical construction, water and wastewater utility needs
