WATER QUALITY IN GULF OF MARMARIS

Abstract

Marmaris was an important commercial center in history for the pathway of Anotolia-Rhodes and Egypt. Therefore, it has bacome an important through fair point between Aegean and Mediterranean for ages. It is placed in southwest of Turkey and closed with peninsula and islands in conjunction of the Mediterranean and Agean Seas. Lots of coves and harbours have become a center for yachts. Knowing of the water quality of Marmaris Bay, which is important for tourism is so crucial. Thus, some water quality parameters were analised from the water samples taken from 10 stations in the bay either on field or in the laboratory during 10 months. As a result of this study, water pollution of the chosen stations in Marmaris Bay was observed to be in the border of danger scientifically.
