APPRECIATION OF WATER RESOURCES IN BYC RIVER BASIN

Jeleapov Ana, Boboc Nicolae, Institute of Ecology and Geography of Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova

Abstract

Byc River basin occupies about 6.3% of the Republic of Moldova's territory and summarizes 27.2% of the total population of the country. Water resources of the basin are exposed to a specific anthropogenic impact in comparison with other basins. In order to maintain ecological stability of Byc River, to meet optimum householders requirements it is necessary to determine water resources intended to maintain the ecological balance of the river and resources that can be used for industrial, agricultural and domestic needs. Depending on the hydrological characteristics, that support annual and seasonal changes, these resources can be modeled and as a result recommendations for a rational use of water resources can be offered.

Keywords: Byc River basin, water resources, ecological stability
