WATER QUALITY INVESTIGATION OF NAMNAM CREEK WHICH FEEDS KOYCEGIZ LAKE

Özdemir, N., L. Serra Çiçek De Sa Matos Paixao, Mugla University, Turkey

Abstract

Defined as the area of research, Namnam Creek is born in the east part of Ula – a district of the Province of Mugla, on the southwest of Turkey – first flowing from northeast to southwest, then from southwest to southeast and feeding into Koycegiz Lake at the Gunluk Dovec Region.  This study was made at specific points of Namnam Creek, between May 2010 – April 2011. In this study, first the investigation area was introduced, then the physico-chemical indications as well as the chlorophyll-a amounts of the water samples, recovered from 5 stations, were analysed. The water quality of the samples of the 4 stations was evaluated, by analysing the samples at the Laboratory of Mugla University Aquacultural Engineering Faculty. It was verified, according to the results, that Namnam Creek is exposed to agricultural pollution.
