Abstract
The region under analysis overlaps the northern group of the Eastern Carpathians, and its climatic and morphological characteristics are strongly reflected in the small rivers’ flow regimes.
In order to elaborate this study, we processed and interpreted data coming from 17 representative hydrometric stations from the region under analysis, which monitor the flow of the water in hydrographic basins whose areas do not go over 100 km2, reflecting as accurately as possible the local peculiarities of the flow regime for the rivers in the area under analysis. We considered two periods: a long one (1950-2010) and a shorter one (1986-2010), which allowed the valorization of the data coming from all the hydrometric stations in the area under analysis.
Out of the analysis carried out, it resulted that the rhythmic structure of the flow regime reflects the local features of the water supply sources, the geological conditions and the morphological and morphometric conditions of the relief.
In the first part of our work, we analyze and explain the reasons of the spatial and temporal particularities of the seasonal and monthly rhythms, as well as the-rhythmical variations of the flow regime. In the second part, we characterize the main parameters (duration, period of manifestation, frequency, variability, average data and extremes of appearance and disappearance) of the characteristic periods of the flow regime (small waters and high waters).
In the end of this work, we identify, based on the results obtained, the types and sub-types of flow regimes specific for the Oriental Carpathians.
