Abstract

This study was carried on in one of the water resources feed Koycegiz Lake, Namnam Creek between May 2010 and April 2011. From four stations in Namnam Creek, water samples were taken to investigate water quality and to look for physico-chemical findings. As a result, physico-chemical data were determined as follow; water temperature (12.04- 25.25⁰C), pH (7.23-8.68), electrical conductivity (348-675 µS/cm), dissolved oxygen (4.53-7.43 mgL-1), BOI5 (BDL-4.65 mgL-1), nitrite (BDL-0.48 mgL-1), nitrate (BDL-26.10 mgL-1), ammonia (BDL-2.54mgL-1) andortho-phosphate (BDL- 3.85mgL-1). Obtained physico-chemical data were evaluated by following the Quality Criteria of Inland Water Resources Categories” of Water Pollution Control Regulation. In consequence of this evaluation, it is considered that the pollution in Namnam Creek was caused by mostly mixed of agricultural pollutants and anthropogenic factors.
