WATER RESOURCES IN THE UPPER HYDROGRAPHIC BASIN OF THE RIVER ARGES
Abstract. Romania's water resources consist of surface water and groundwater, and the increase in water requirements reflects the economic and social development of a state. These water resources can not be used without significant investment of fitting the watercourses capable of providing storage of large volumes of water regarding to the uneven distribution in time and space for this resource. Climate changes and the lack of balance in the ecosystems can lead in time to imbalance quantitative and qualitative changes in water resources with serious consequences in the evolution of territorial administrative regions. The sustainability and risk management policy should govern the development policy on water management therefor, with increasing water consumption and the risk of pollutant load to maintain and where necessary to render good water status.
