Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement
Submitted manuscripts, should not have been previously published and should nor are they under consideration for publication or in press elsewhere. Romanian Limnogeographical Association make effort to ensure the accuracy of all the information contained in our journal Lakes reservoirs and ponds.
Opinions and views expressed in this publication are the opinions and views of the authors, and are not the views of or endorsed by Romanian Limnogeographical Association.
If the manuscript contains extracts from other works (including figures, photos, on-line materials …) it is the author's responsibility for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources. If the work involves chemicals, procedures or equipment that have any unusual hazards inherent in their use, the author must clearly identify these in the manuscript.When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
Contributions are often in combinations determined by interdisciplinary study. Journal Lakes reservoirs and ponds promotes and respect the ethical principles of scientific publishing. These standards are essential to ensure quality and credibility of scientific publications. All manuscript are considered without regard to sex, gender, race, religion, citizenship, etc. of the authors.
Romanian Limnogeographical Association and the partners are committed to maintain the statements of COPE's Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors (http://publicationethics.org/resources/code-conduct).
To avoid any form of plagiarism, each manuscript newly submitted will be checked regarding plagiarism using Anti-plagiat software.
Publication fee: Publishing in Lakes reservoirs and ponds is free of charge for authors. Journal does not have article submission charges.
Open access under CC BY-NC-ND license. Authors retain copyright and publishing rights without restrictions.
All submissions go first through an internal peer review process. Articles can be rejected at this stage. This process normally takes a week. If the editor believes the article may be of interest to our readers, it is then sent out for external peer review. Each article (without the name of the author(s)) is sent to two reviewers for evaluation. The comments of reviewers will be sent to the author by the editorial board to make the recommended changes, if necessary. The reviewers' names are unknown to manuscript author(s). Upon reviewers' recommendations, the manuscript can be accepted, sent back to author for minor revisions, sent back to author to be resubmitted or rejected. The comments of peer reviewers will be sent to the author by the editorial board to make the recommended changes, if necessary. The peer reviewers' names are unknown to manuscript author(s). Peer reviewers are asked to give their opinion on a number of issues pertinent to the quality and suitability of a paper, and to judge papers on grounds of originality and importance.
The editors are responsible for:
• deciding to accept or reject a paper for publication based on the relevance for the journal, on the validity of the results, and on the clarity and originality;
• finding peer reviewers with a degree in the scientific relevant field;
• keeping the confidentiality of the manuscript while under review;
• publishing the paper open acces
The authors are responsible for:
• opinions and views expressed in the article, which are not the views of or endorsed by Romanian Limnogeographical Association or the partners;
• submiting original works which has not been published before (partly or in full) or has not been submitted to another journal for simultaneous consideration;
• obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources and appropriately cite or quote them if the manuscript (including figures, photos, on-line materials …);
• sharing collective responsability and accountability for the results by all co-authors;
• promptly notifying the editors when an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work in order to retract or correct the paper;
• properly acknowledging to individuals who provided help during the research and to research grants;
In addition: changes of authorship are not accepted after acceptance of a manuscript.

Any manipulation of citations (e.g., citations not contributing to a manuscript's scientific content) is perceived as scientific malpractice.
In case of plagiarism the author(s) institution(s) may be informed.
The peer reviewers are responsable for:
• assisting the editors in taking the decision of publishing a submitted manuscript;
• preserving the confidentialitty of the manuscript and do not discussing it with others, unauthorized by the editors;
• conducting an objective review with supporting arguments;
• contributing to the improvement of the work by formulating suggestions to the authors;
• allerting the editors and authors in case of plagiarism;
Compliance with Ethical Standards
To ensure the ethical principles of scientific publishing, authors should include information regarding sources of funding and potential conflicts of interest (e.g., financial, multiple affiliation, intellectual property rights), identify in the manuscript if the work involves chemicals, procedures or equipment that have any unusual hazards inherent in their use or make a statement on welfare of animals if the research involved animals.
The authors will include a statement that reflects what is recorded in the potential conflict of interest disclosure form(s). The corresponding author is responsible to collect the conflict of interest disclosure forms from all authors The authors should be prepared to collect documentation of compliance with ethical standards and send if requested during peer review or after publication.
Copyright agreement
The form for transfer of copyright must be completed by the author(s) and submitted together with the manuscript. It is the author's responsibility to obtain all necessary approvals from the author's employer, etc., prior to submission of the paper.
Author(s) are responsible for obtaining, from the copyright holder, written permission to reproduce previously published (copyrighted) figures, photos, tables. By Copyright Transfer Agreement, the author(s) warrants that the manuscript has not been published elsewhere and the manuscript is the original work of the author(s).
The contents and ideas presented in articles are responsibility of the authors only. No paper will be published in the journal unless a transfer of copyright form.

All text will be in English, in .doc or .docx format (please do not use other format) and submitted electronically to: lakesjournal@limnology.ro Authors for whom English is not their mother tongue should have their manuscripts checked by a competent linguist or native English speaker before submission (American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture of these).
The structure of a paper should be as follows (those marked in red are essential):

Abstract [Times new Roman, 10 point, alignment left]
There is a maximum of 400 words for the abstract. It is necessary that the paper starts with an abstract. Abstracts must be clear (may not be vague) should state briefly the purpose of the research, the principal results and major conclusions, written in English and must follow standard grammar and punctuation rules. The abstract should not contain any undefined abbreviations or unspecified references. Please do not insert figures, graphs, tables in the abstract section.
Keywords: first, second, third, max. 8 [Times New Roman, 10-point, normal, upper and lower case and alignment left].
1 SECTION [Arial, 11-point, bold, upper case and alignment left]
The titles of sections and subsections should be marked with ordinal numbers (e.g. 1 Introduction, 2
Methodology). It is recommended that the article includes Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion sections.
The text must be in one column format and Times New Roman must be used, including in figures and tables. Leave two blank lines before Sections [Times new Roman, 11-point, normal, alignment justify]
1.1 Subsections [Arial, 11-point, bold, alignment left and capitalize the first letter]
The text (11-point, Times New Roman) included in the section or subsection must begin one line after the section or subsection title. Leave two blank lines before the section title and one line before the subsection title.
MATH FORMULAE
Please submit math equations as editable text and not as images.
ABBREVIATIONS
Abbreviations should be defined at first mention and used consistently thereafter.
FIGURES AND TABLES
Figures, tables and graphics should be centered, numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals and accompanied by their own titles (Figure 1. Title, Table 1. Title - alignment justify). No punctuation is to be placed at the end of the title. Figure parts should be denoted by lowercase letters (a, b, c, etc.). Figures, tables, photos … should be placed inside the text right after they are first mentioned (as close as possible).
All figures, tables, photos … etc. must be in digital form as inserted in the manuscript (the maximum size 170 mm × 257 mm and >600 dpi).
All illustrations must have self-explanatory legends should not repeat one another.
All figures, tables, photos … should be submitted color or black and white. If any magnification is used in the figures, graphics or photos, indicate this by using scale bars within the figures themselves.
Do not include the figure captions inside the figure and do not put the figure captions in text boxes. Please submit tables as editable text and not as images.
Footnotes to figures or tables should be placed beneath them and indicated by superscript lowercase letters.
Permissions
If the manuscript contains extracts from other works (including figures, photos, tables), you must obtain permission from the copyright owner(s) for both the print and online format, then cite the original source in the form of a reference citation at the end of the figure caption. Previously published material should be identified by giving the original source in the form of a reference citation at the end of the figure caption.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS (if applicable)
Acknowledgments as well as information regarding peoples, grants, funds, etc. should be placed in a separate section before References. The names of funding organizations should be written in full.
REFERENCES
Any manipulation of citations (e.g., citations not contributing to a manuscript's scientific content) is perceived as scientific malpractice.
A list of the references should be given at the end of the paper. Please make sure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa).
Do not use footnotes or endnotes as a substitute for a reference list.
Please note that incorrect surnames, journal/book titles, publication year and pagination may prevent link creation.
When quoting from source material, authors should state the author's last name and the year, and separate individual sources with semicolons like (Gastescu 2006; Gastescu and Popescu 2006; Gastescu et al., 2006) or like Gastescu (2006) …, Gastescu and Popescu (2006) …, Gastescu et al. (2006) … .
[Times new Roman, 11-point, normal, alignment justify]. Personal communications and unpublished works should only be mentioned in the text.
References
The list of references should only include works that are cited in the text and that have been published or
accepted for publication.
Reference list entries should be alphabetized by the last names of the first author of each work.
For single author article - chronologically, beginning with the oldest. Where more than one reference is given for the same authors, the publications should be listed chronologically and differentiated by adding a letter (a, b, c, etc.) to the year.
The original titles in the Roman alphabet are to be retained. If a work is in a language that uses the Roman alphabet but is little used outside its country of origin, the English translation should be given in brackets
immediately after the original title and the language should be indicated at the end (e.g. [in Romanian]).
