Abstract

From the point of view of  the genesis of the lacustrine basin, Romania has a large variety of natural lakes. The processes that led to their formation were those of errosion and  river accumulation, abrasion and maritime accumulation, sliding, eolian, glacial and nival, suffosion and sinkage as well as the dissolution of soluble rocks. The lakes formed on gypsum deposits are less numerous due to the small extension of these formations in Romania.

Keywords: lake, gypsum, morphometrical features
