John Quinn
John Quinn is a river ecologist and Chief Scientist for Freshwater and Estuaries at NIWA, leading a national team of over 130 researchers. He has led cross-institute, interdisciplinary, research programmes on river ecosystems and land use interactions, managing forest harvest impacts on streams and restoration of rivers, lakes and estuaries. John has published over 100 refereed journal articles and book chapters and 150 client reports and has contributed to regional and national freshwater management and policy. He has co-edited a Lake Restoration Handbook (Springer, in press) and special journal issues of NZ Journal of Marine and Freshwater Research on Land-Water Interactions (1997) and Management and Rehabilitation of Aquatic Ecosystems (2017).
