A HOLISTIC VISION ON WATER RELATED PROTECTED AREAS
Abstract: As required by Water Framework Directive, at national level are identified and mapping: areas designated for the abstraction of water intended for human consumption, areas designated for the protection of economically significant aquatic species, areas designated for the protection of habitats or species where the maintenance or improvement of the status of water is an important factor in their protection, areas designated as vulnerable zones and areas designated as sensitive areas and bodies of water designated as recreational waters. The summary of the register required is part of the river basin management plan and includes maps indicating the location of each protected area and a description of the Community, national or local legislation under which they have been designated. Implementation of specific European directives will contribute to implementation of the Water Framework Directive, but to set each targets we must regard to each one targets.
